What is Tooth Whitening?

What is a teeth whitening?

Whitening is a peroxide-based chemical that is placed on the surface of the dental enamel in order to lighten the stains and pigments acquired, achieving a cleaner and therefore whiter surface.

How do I know if I am a candidate for teeth whitening?

Normally to know if you are a candidate or not, we check your teeth and take into account several factors such as: Sensitivity, enamel fractures, type of stains, age, general health, allergies, gingival health, etc. Ideally, we review you before carrying out the treatment to know if you are a candidate or not.

Does teeth whitening harm my teeth?

If done carefully and infrequently, the chemical will not do irreversible damage to the enamel. The enamel perfectly tolerates a controlled amount of peroxide. The risk of doing a whitening treatment without the correct protection measures can put your enamel, your dentin and more often your gums at risk.
